When Palestinian and Lebanese celebrities championed their peoples' cause and tragedy, they were called "antisemitism"—and denied.
Today, Western celebrities who champion the very same cause—awarded prizes and called heroes!
When Palestinian and Lebanese broadcasters and other voices reported on their people's tragedy, they were called "propagandists"—and silenced.
Today, Western broadcasters and other voices who repeated the same stories—awarded prizes and called courageous!
When Palestinian and Lebanese activists advocated about the killing of their people and the destruction of their homes, they were called "pro-terrorism"—and censored.
Today, Western activists advocating the same cause—awarded prizes and called freedom fighters!
When Palestinian and Lebanese diplomats and politicians raised their voices to demand an end to the war crimes committed against their people, they were called "unreliable"—and sanctioned.
Today, Western diplomats and politicians who have repeated the same reports and statements—awarded prizes and called braves!
It is always all about *them*... and by supporting any voice without questioning that voice and from where it suddenly came and cared, you make our task—that of clarifying which of these voices harbors an agenda to convey indirect messages to you, and which does not—even more difficult. This is happening now without you even realizing it. You also help undermine our credibility—we who are truly suffering at the heart of this tragedy—in favor of listening to their agendas instead of us; so, be careful.
At what point do you stop favoring spectacle over the cause? The Palestinian and Lebanese movements are being used as the backdrop for fame and microcelebrity status, and you are enabling it.
Perhaps this should unsettle who you make visible and recognizable, and why.
