The empire does not ask for your enthusiasm.
It only asks for your disorientation.
It asks that you never quite connect the sanctions to the famine.
The coup to the dictatorship.
The arms deal to the massacre.
The economic policy to the poverty.
The drone strike to the refugee.
The refugee to the border.
The border to the election.
The election to the next arms deal.
Keep all of it fragmented.
Keep all of it contextless.
Keep all of it complicated enough that sitting with the full picture feels like too much to hold.
And it works.
It works every day, on people who are not stupid, who are not cruel, who would be genuinely horrified if they saw it assembled in full.
That is the system.
Not a conspiracy.
A culture.
A set of habits of attention and inattention that have been cultivated over generations because they are useful.
But the thing about a spell is that once you see it, you cannot unsee it.
Once you follow one thread all the way to the end, Vietnam, Congo, Chile, Iraq, Palestine, one thread, any thread, the whole architecture becomes visible.
And then the disorientation is no longer theirs.
It's yours.
But yours is the productive kind.
The kind that leads somewhere.
The kind that the empire has no defense against.
See clearly.
Connect the dots.
Tell the truth.
That's all it takes.
That's always been all it takes.
