They call it "losing influence."

Understand what influence meant.

It meant: when we disapprove, governments fall.

It meant: when we need a resource, the country sitting on it will sell it on our terms or face consequences.

It meant: our institutions set the rules of the global economy, and the rules of the global economy happen to favor our institutions.

It meant: our military can be anywhere, and the anywhere is not a metaphor — 800 bases across 80 countries.

That is what is being lost.

Not culture. Not values. Not the genuine achievements of Western civilization.

The capacity to make other people's decisions for them.

And when that capacity erodes, when countries start settling trades in other currencies, forming their own institutions, refusing the bases, the Western response is to describe it as a "crisis of global order."

It is not a crisis of global order.

It is a crisis of who gets to define order.

That question having more than one answer is not chaos.

It is just the world becoming what it should have been allowed to be all along.
