Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian calls out the double standard surrounding nuclear weapons in the Middle East.
“Israel is not a member of the NPT, and they have nuclear weapons in great numbers. So is there any international institution protesting why they have this kind of nuclear weapons?”
Pezeshkian contrasted this with the pressure placed on Iran, which remains an NPT member and maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful. Israel has never joined the NPT and maintains a policy of nuclear ambiguity, neither confirming nor denying possession of nuclear weapons.
