 I don’t believe for a second the narrative now being presented about Yemen.

We’re supposed to believe that MBS suddenly called Trump begging the United States to save Saudi Arabia from Ansarallah, while simultaneously believing Trump’s claim that Ansarallah called Washington to say, “Please don’t fight us.”

Ansarallah has now publicly DENIED Trump’s claim that it contacted Washington asking the U.S. not to intervene. Conversely, KSA is likely not in a position to deny the claim regarding their request for help and subsequent denial. 

And the entire premise that America is somehow standing on the sidelines is absurd.

The United States is ALREADY involved.

U.S. officials themselves confirm Washington is providing Saudi Arabia with intelligence and targeting assistance. CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper traveled to Saudi Arabia as the fighting escalated. Saudi Arabia remains one of America’s largest arms customers, its forces operate overwhelmingly Western equipment, and the U.S.-Saudi military and intelligence relationship runs decades deep. 

So when Washington says it has declined to “get involved,” they’re flat out lying.

Even Reuters’ reporting acknowledges this distinction: Washington reportedly refused DIRECT U.S. strikes while agreeing to help Riyadh with intelligence sharing and targeting.

And let’s remember what happened only months ago.

During the war with Iran, Trump openly talked about Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain “fighting back.” U.S. forces operate from bases throughout the Gulf, and Washington’s own description of the Iran campaign said it was conducted “in partnership with regional allies.”

Now, after seven months of war with Iran, with Hormuz disrupted, oil prices soaring, U.S. military resources under increasing pressure, and Ansarallah having just swept down Yemen’s Red Sea coast to Bab al-Mandab, suddenly Washington wants everyone to believe it is merely an uninvolved observer politely declining requests to join another war.

I’m not buying it.

What I see is a United States already deeply involved militarily, logistically and through intelligence, but extremely reluctant to put its own name directly on another campaign against Ansarallah after its previous bombing campaign failed to defeat them.

Trump’s own words are revealing. He says Ansarallah is letting “most ships go through” and has only “one country that they’re not too happy with.”

In other words, Washington appears perfectly aware that this fight is presently centered on Saudi Arabia and desperately wants to avoid turning it back into a direct U.S.-Yemen war.

After the enormous cost and embarrassment of the war with Iran, followed by Ansarallah’s stunning advances in Yemen, this looks a lot less like American neutrality and a lot more like Washington trying to maintain support for its ally while avoiding another very public military confrontation it cannot guarantee it will win.

In other words, the USA has lost on another front.
