US dollar is under serious pressure. The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the dollar’s strength against major global currencies, has fallen sharply below the critical 100 mark. In just the last 15 days, the index dropped from around 97 to nearly 95.9, pushing the dollar to its lowest level in four years.
This is not market noise. Indian and Western media alike, including Reuters, confirm that the dollar is steadily weakening, driven by political uncertainty and eroding investor confidence.
Why Is the Dollar Falling?
Runaway US debt has crossed $38 trillion, far exceeding GDP.
Expectations of interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve mean more dollars in circulation.
Policy uncertainty and trade tensions linked to Donald Trump have shaken global trust.

The IMF has openly warned that global dependence on US treasuries and the dollar has become risky. IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva confirmed that the IMF is now modeling scenarios where investors rapidly dump dollar assets, something earlier considered unthinkable.
World Is Moving Away from the Dollar
Major economies, especially BRICS nations, are reducing US treasury holdings, boosting gold reserves, and settling trade in local currencies. As a result, the dollar’s share in global foreign exchange reserves has fallen to its lowest level since 2000.
Gold Tells the Final Story
As the dollar weakens, gold surges. International prices have crossed $5,200, while Indian prices are nearing ₹1.7 lakh per tola, a classic signal of declining faith in the dollar.
Despite public reassurances from President Trump, markets are unconvinced. The data is clear: the US dollar is facing a deep confidence crisis, and its long-held dominance in the global financial system is now under serious threat.
