Michael Parenti (1933-2026) argued that the Iraq War was a success…for the class that planned it. While the American people paid for the illegal war with taxes and the lives of soldiers, those who planned it made enormous profits through US Army, reconstruction, and oil contracts. The imperialist plundering never benefits the US population as a whole, and always a small elite who own large stakes in US corporations. So as we’re in the run-up to yet another disastrous war in the Middle East, remember, they want YOU the American people to pay the costs while they reap the profits.
