Is this an Israel we can still trade with?
Former UK diplomat Sir Jeremy Greenstock just said what Britain’s establishment won’t:
Israel’s actions in Palestine violate international law. They’re unacceptable to most of the British public. And they’ve gone far beyond anything many of us expected — military force and assassination instead of a political settlement.
If we still have any principles, we should stop trading settlement goods and rethink the weapons we supply.
Netanyahu, Greenstock argues, is using 7 October to push full Israeli control over the West Bank. The Israeli cabinet acts with impunity. They’re not worried about world opinion — even as it shifts toward Palestinians.
Britain learned in Iraq that hard power doesn’t create legitimacy. We’re ignoring that lesson again.
