The Times puts the fleet's weekly burn at roughly eight million gallons of fuel and 420,000 meals for 20,000 sailors and Marines, delivered by supply ships that now sail to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, or as far as Singapore at 3,700 miles, because Iran destroyed the Bahrain logistics hub on day one and put every Gulf port inside missile range.
Resupply at sea happens every five or six days.

Fresh food cannot survive that trip, which is why Lincoln sailors ate frozen rations for months.
