Speaking in London this week, Jeremy Corbyn responded to concerns surrounding the appointment of former Labour Friends of Israel chair and water industry lobbyist James Purnell as a Chief of Staff. “Chiefs of staff and staff have enormous power. I do think there is a case for parliamentary scrutiny... you'd have to reveal any shareholdings, any commercial interests and any past interests—such as being chair of Labour Friends of Israel.” Corbyn argues that because these unelected positions hold immense public power, they must face strict parliamentary scrutiny to lay bare any conflicts of interest, commercial ties, or lobbying histories. Earlier in the interview, he also detailed his newly presented Gaza Tribunal Bill, drawing a direct parallel to the years of fighting for the truth over the Iraq War.📍 London 📅 30 June 2026 #JeremyCorbyn #LabourFriendsOfIsrael #JamesPurnell #ConflictsOfInterest #GazaTribunalBill Footage: Ranjan Balakumaran
