Its not the Iranians that are stretching out peace negotiations by months or even years, it's Trump. Iran negotiated a good faith 60 day cease-fire MOU with Steve Witkoff five days ago which Trump rejected on Friday because Iran comtinues to refuse to cave to his maximalist demands. He can keep fighting the war until the end of his presidency and the US suffers a massive recession but their peace terms will not change so he might as well cut his losses and take the deal they're offering.
