Moments ago, President Trump again took to social media to complain about coverage of the Iranian negotiations on CNN. This time complaining there is not enough focus on the “nuclear“ part of the deal.
It doesn’t matter what CNN, Fox News, CBS News, or any other American outlet says about the plan. The only thing that DOES matter is what the Iranians are willing to agree to – or what they are NOT willing to agree to.
Despite what President Trump keeps saying out loud, the Iran side is not willing to discuss nuclear until phase 2 of any agreement, and even phase 1 doesn’t go into effect, they say, until $12 billion in their frozen assets have been released, sanctions have been waived on their energy concerns, and there is a full stop to the fighting in Lebanon by Israel.
That’s what President Trump needs to focus on, finding any possibility of common ground to actually get the war over, instead of just blasting news outlets for reporting what he says.
Bottom line, until President Trump changes his tune, there will be no negotiated settlement, the blockades will remain in place, and the harm to our national economies will continue to deepen.
