 Israeli lawmaker Ofer Cassif, the only Jewish member of the anti-occupation Hadash party in the Knesset, said lawmakers defeated a bill that would have barred the Red Cross from visiting Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.  

Cassif said the proposed law was meant to prevent the world from seeing “the marks of torture and inhumane conditions” on Palestinian prisoners, adding: “The government can’t hide its crimes against humanity forever.” He called for the immediate resumption of Red Cross visits.
