The most fortified border in the world is not between two countries. It is between a person and the truth about how they got here.

Here is what the empire actually produced, as its most lasting domestic achievement: A population that is simultaneously the most propagandized in the wealthy world and the most convinced of its own free thinking. A population that has access to more information than any humans in history and uses it primarily to confirm what it already believes. A population that confuses the freedom to choose between options curated by power with freedom itself. A population that experiences its own exploitation with pride: working three jobs is called hustle, having no safety net is called resilience, being disposable is called opportunity. A population that fights with genuine passion against its own interests and calls it patriotism. This is not an insult. This is an achievement. It took generations to build. It required the coordinated, continuous effort of every cultural institution the country possesses. It required making people feel that the cage was built for their protection and that the people pointing at the bars were the threat. It worked. It is still working. The question, the only question that matters now, is whether enough people, in enough places, can sit with the discomfort of seeing it clearly long enough to want something different. Not reform. Not better management. Something different. That is a harder ask than any revolution in history. Because this one requires people to fight not an external enemy but the version of themselves that the empire spent a century carefully constructing. The most fortified border in the world is not between two countries. It is between a person and the truth about how they got here.
