After a cascade of Trump admin lies about a fictional Iranian threat: that it was "two weeks" from a nuke; building a "protective shield" of missiles for a nuke; was about to attack US forces; was developing ICBMs to hit the US mainland etc., we finally get a somewhat honest statement on the real "threat" that the Trump admin is targeting.
According to Admiral Brad Cooper, the military commander of Trump's war on Iran: “We remain centered on very clear military objectives in eliminating Iran’s ability to project power against Americans and against its neighbors.”
Nothing here about nukes or any other kind of threat to US or global security. Just Iran's ability to "project power." Which means Iran functioning as an independent, sovereign state that can defend itself against US-Israeli power in its own region.
