Iran is not erupting. What is erupting is the amplification of selective clips & recycled footage. Yes, there are real grievances, & no serious observer denies that. But isolated images do not amount to a nationwide uprising. Here is the basic math, since perspective seems to get lost. Iran has a population of roughly 92 million. Even generously: • 1 percent protesting equals about 920,000 • 2 percent equals about 1.84 million • 5 percent, wildly inflated, equals about 4.6 million In every scenario, 95 to 99 percent of Iranians are not in the streets. That silent majority, for many reasons, is routinely erased from the narrative. Layered on top of this is the spectacle of Reza Pahlavi presenting himself as a popular leader of an imagined revolution. From outside the country, he issues calls for Iranians to rise up. He speaks as though he commands a constituency inside Iran & frames scattered unrest as proof of a mandate he does not have. Whatever his appeal in certain exile circles, there is no evidence that he represents a mass movement inside Iran, let alone leads one. His visibility is being mistaken for legitimacy, & his online amplification for popular support. After military pressure failed to produce the desired outcome, the narrative shifted toward internal collapse. It is a familiar playbook. Inflate unrest, loop dramatic footage, & present it as a tipping point. But viral clips from a handful of hotspots do not equal “the Iranian people,” & revolution by looped video is not a serious metric. #Iran #MediaInflation
