Israelis know the norm - summary executions, mass graves, wholesale slaughter and destruction.
In response to the filmed execution of two Palestinians near Jenin today, Israeli "liberals" explain that there are always "bad apples" and the fact that Israelis take this so seriously (a lot of chatter from Israeli liberals expressing "disappointment" and "concern" about how we are "becoming like them" - Hamas, that is) demonstrates that this is not the norm. We should stop with the self-flagellation!
This is a lie. Israelis know the norm - summary executions, mass graves, wholesale slaughter and destruction. The new addition to the norm is just as immoral and perhaps even more loathsome - evasion and distraction, denial and false projection. These are accompanied, as they always are, by complete dehumanization of the Palestinians. Palestinian deaths, like Palestinian lives, are at best "a mistake".
I bear witness that the great majority of Jewish Israelis support, facilitate and enable the genocide. Come Sunday, when the Israeli work week begins, no one will remember this execution. Mass denial, mass rejection, "forgetting" on a national scale, these are conscious choices made by a society of genocidaires.
