Question: if Zionism is all about rescuing Jews from persecution, why did American Jewish Zionists block FDR in the 1940s from attempts to rescue Europe's persecuted Jews & bring them to the US?
Answer: The Zionist movement was not about rescuing persecuted Jews. American Zionists preferred Europe's Jews to suffer & die if their only rescue option was a destination other than Palestine.
Zionism was all about building a Jewish State in an Arab country. That required capturing as many Jewish bodies as possible. Jewish bodies were needed to wage a demographic & kinetic war against the Palestinian Arabs.
And so if Jews could not go to Palestine, or did not want to go Palestine, the view of the American Jewish Zionists was that it would be better to let them suffer in Europe than find safe haven in the US.
Jewish suffering is a Zionist value in the same way Jewish suffering is an anti-semitic value.
The view of the Zionists was that suffering Jewish refugees & holocaust survivors were better than saved and rescued holocaust survivors in the US.
Zionism is, in a word, anti-Jewish.
