Historically speaking, there was never such a thing called "The Jewish People" before zionism.
historically speaking, zionists go bonkers when you present basic truths that shatter their fairytale narratives. the post below is no exception. so let me elaborate a bit more.
1. "Mizrahim," the categorization that the original European zionists gave to Arab Jews (because, God forbid, they couldn't just be "jews" like them) means "Eastern." It begs the question, "east" of whom? of what? because no one indigenous to that region has ever self identified as "eastern." In fact, for us, eastern refers to peoples of China, in general.
2. Although they claim that Jews of the world had always been "the Jewish People" (i.e. a singular unified people), there's literally nothing that unifies them and European Jews looked upon Arab and African Jews with the same racism as their non-jewish European compatriots.
3. There were no—not a single one—Arab or African Jews at any of the zionist congresses where the colonization of Palestine was being planned and debated over the span of decades.
4. Arab Jews were generally prosperous in their home countries of majority Muslim or Christian nations. The oldest and largest continuous Jewish community in the world was actually in modern day Iraq, where they were deeply rooted in the land, culture, language, and heritage. Zionists literally had to bomb their synagogues to make them flee, thinking their Muslim compatriots were turning on them. This isn't disputed. Israeli historian Avi Shlaim, himself and Iraqi Jew, had provided multiple primary sources, including interviews with the perpetrators, declassified British and Israeli documents and maps, and more. Other historians have documented this episode of zionist malfeasance, including Esther Meir-Glitzenstein and Moshe Gat.
Of course, Israeli historian Shlomo Sands wrote a book called "The Invention of the Jewish People," where he documents this aspect of the zionist fairytale narrative.
