According to Amit Segal, Israel is tilting against China and Netanyahu's recent comments name checking Beijing as a hostile country were calculated and intentional. On one hand, one would not want to be a small country in Eurasia at odds with the likely hegemon in that part of the world. But on the other Israel is very reliant on its relationship with U.S. elites hostile to China and needs to find a way to make itself useful to them as it did during the Cold War conflict with the USSR. This developing situation is likely partly behind the intensifying push to force a conclusion to the Gaza conflict.
