There might have been many Palestinian Mandelas, but the IDF almost certainly killed them all. The real question is where is the Israeli de Klerk? Yitzhak Rabin came close but he was murdered by a Israeli nationalist incited by Netanyahu (who is much more representative of Israeli opinion). In Israel, many in governing coalition see Rabin's assassin as a great hero.

One of the under-discussed problems with the "Israel=Apartheid" analogy is if Israel is an Apartheid state, who is the Palestinians' Mandela, the leader who will deliver for them without recriminations against the oppressor group? There isn't one.
