Foreign Affairs Minister Bob Carr has reiterated earlier comments that Australia has no evidence to suggest the US is planning such a move.

doesn't he listen to  his own experts??

In May, Senator Carr told a Senate estimates committee hearing: "We have no advice that the US has an intention to extradite Mr Assange … nothing we have been told suggests that the US has such an intention."
However, the Australian embassy in Washington reported in February that "the US investigation into possible criminal conduct by Mr Assange has been ongoing for more than a year".
The embassy noted media reports that a US federal grand jury had been empanelled in Alexandria, Virginia, to pursue the WikiLeaks case and that US government officials "cannot lawfully confirm to us the existence of the grand jury".

And this was the bloke who did not like the  american pivot that the Ozies were always turning on.  But then , that was before he became Foreign Minister.

I am reminded of what an american general said during the  vietnam war, about the australian diggers being  the american "Gorkhas".  The gorkhas , though , make money fighting for others.

Cheap shock troops fighting other nations' wars is what they seem to be good at - ever since they fought  brit wars in South Aftica .
