Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are now in the Kremlin, practically begging Putin to accept a settlement,after Washington spent years arrogantly dismissing Russia’s warnings.
Putin warned them again and again: stop expanding NATO toward Russia’s borders.
Washington heard those warnings and treated them with contempt.
The neoconservative fantasy was that Russia was weak, isolated, and incapable of pushing back. So they kept shoving NATO eastward, convinced Moscow would simply swallow it.
That wasn’t strength.
It was breathtaking strategic stupidity.
They mistook Russia’s restraint for weakness, their own propaganda for reality, and escalation for strategy.
Now the bill has arrived.
After years of lecturing Russia, threatening Russia, and dismissing Russia’s red lines, Washington is sending envoys to Moscow to plead for a way out of the disaster its own policies helped create.
That is not a triumph of American strategy.
It is the humiliating aftermath of a catastrophic miscalculation.
