We are 10 months into a "ceasefire" that has been religiously abided by Hamas & religious violated by Israel. 

So the @nytimes
 platforms the darling of the American Jewish-Zionist establishment, Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, to explain how the root cause of all bad in the world is Hamas.

1. The piece is littered with arguments quite literally pulled out of Alkhatib's ass, bereft of any evidence:

"As the horrors continued, the people of Gaza made it clearer, despite repression from Hamas, that they were disgusted with the group and wanted it out."

Yes, we know that's what you want to believe, what you want to be true, Mr. Alkhatib.

The only evidence presented in the piece to support the idea that 2 million Palestinians in Gaza "made it clear" "they were disgusted with the group" is a  single April 2025 BBC article citing a handful of Hamas critics in Gaza and a few hundred anti-Hamas protestors in Beit Lahiya.

2. The piece is also littered with lies:

a) Alkhatib: "Hamas severed Gaza from the West Bank." hunhhh?????????????????????

Either Alkhatib is using the words  "Hamas" and "Israel" synonymously or his brain is composed of chemically manufactured horse manure.

b) Alkhatib: he writes fondly of the Oslo Process, then adds,  "all hallmarks of a march toward statehood that the Oslo Peace Process, however flawed, had ushered in...  But it was not to be .... Israel pulled all its troops and settlements from the Gaza Strip. Two years later, in 2007, Hamas seized power"

Here, Alkhatib wants you to believe the Oslo peace process might have been flawed but it was going great and on track after Disengagement in 2005, but everything went bad only after Hamas came to power in 2007. 

Of course, Alkhatib forgot to mention that the entire point of Disengagement (what he falsely calls "withdrawal") was TO BRING AN END TO THE PEACE PROCESS:

As Ariel Sharon's senior advisor Dov Weisglass explained  in October 2004: "The significance of the disengagement plan is the freezing of the peace process… And when you freeze that process, you prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, and you prevent a discussion on the refugees, the borders and Jerusalem." https://lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v36/n15/mouin-rabbani/israel-mows-the-lawn

Alas, his main argument is that "Gaza has no future as long as Hamas holds two million Palestinians hostage to its nihilistic agenda."

If you think that Israel is going to turn Gaza into a paradise for Palestinians once Hamas is gone -- as Alkhatib does -- you have been inflicted by the most dangerous form of brain cancer known to Homo Sapeins -- it's called Zionism.

This is how you know it’s all bullshit. Hamas accepted the BoP plan, agreed to hand over power to the committee the BoP selected, and agreed to disarm. Quite literally paving the path for the Gaza Ahmed wants. Yet Israel’s rejection of all the above is somehow Hamas’s fault too.
