photos from palestine i have to share.

This is an unusual and rare  look into the human cost of the latest, election oriented , Israeli "war". A war that was forecast weeks ago. A war waiting to happen  just because  of the elections that are coming up.

The photos are unusual because they are not  social media disseminated camphone blurs one has come to expect from the other side of the Wall. They are sharp humanizing and hellish moments. The little people have names and faces  - so what if one of the names is Jihad.  They are still real people . People  who  feel pain , who bleed  and who die . Killed as babies by a politicians using killing of others  as just an unfeeling vote gathering machine.

The Story Behind the Photo: Journalist’s 11-month-old Son Killed in Gaza Strikes

By Max Fisher
November 15, 2012 "The Washington Post" - The front page photo on Thursday’s Washington Post tells, in a single frame, a very personal story from Wednesday’s Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. Jihad Misharawi, a BBC Arabic journalist who lives in Gaza, carries the body of his 11-month old son, Omar, through al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City.

The knee jerk  reaction from the supporting caste of " Western" politicians  is just shocking. Thankfully , this time, it is being pointed out. And in a broader context.

Julia Gillard's lopsided statement on the conflict in Gaza and Israel leaves an open question about Australia's support for assassination.
The missile attack that ended the life of Ahmed Said Khalil al-Jabari was not the beginning of this latest round of violence - but it is most certainly a dramatic escalation.
For Gillard to urge ''both Hamas and Israel to exercise restraint'' but not even mention the attack appears disingenuous. The government does no favour to Israel by giving tacit support for an act Australia itself views as contrary to international law.
That is assuming Gillard has not changed Australia's position, which is to oppose assassinations.
Israel does have a right to defend itself, as Gillard said - but that does not mean Israel is always right.
