The idea that there's a 4,000 year old Jewish connection to Zionism is absurd. There's an ancient Jewish longing for Zion. From the days of the Talmud until the late 19th century that was accompanied by the insistence that the restoration of Jewish kingdoms in Zion would be left to messianic times. (See Ketubot 111a).
