ISRAEL'S BIGGEST POLITICAL TABOO IS CRACKING, AND IT COULD CHANGE WHO GOVERNS THE COUNTRY
Just days ago, cooperation with Arab parties was considered politically toxic, now Israelis are demonstrating in the streets demanding exactly that.
Gadi Eisenkot has opened the door to support from any lawmaker willing to accept four conditions, including recognising Israel as a Jewish and democratic state and Hamas as a terrorist organisation.
And Arab lawmakers have signalled they're prepared to help establish an alternative government, potentially giving Netanyahu's opponents the parliamentary majority they need.
Here's the irony: Netanyahu himself reportedly sought a deal with Arab party leader Mansour Abbas in 2021 when his own political survival was at stake.
Now his Likud party is alleging, without evidence, that Arab parties stole the election.
With 19 seats held by Arab parties, their votes could determine Israel's next government.
The question is whether Israel's opposition can overcome the political taboo that has kept those votes from becoming decisive.
