Netanyahu just told i24 the quiet part like it was a TED Talk: after October 7, the plan was to “clash with Iran — the head of the octopus,” cut off the arms, and “wound the axis of evil.” Gaza first. Then Syria. Then Lebanon. Then the “head.” He even bragged they delivered the blow “in a very powerful way.”

Cool. So the bloodiest chapter in Gaza’s history gets recast as a beta test. Not a catastrophe. Not a failure. A demo. A dress rehearsal for the real war he always wanted.

Imagine the press notes:
“We needed a pretext with better lighting.”
“Don’t worry, the civilians in Gaza were just the opening credits.”
“If enough of them die, maybe Washington will finally let us swing at Tehran.”

And now the same man who spent years calling Hamas “deterred,” who treated Gaza like a managed cage while chasing Iran in speeches, wants credit for “changing the face of the Middle East.” Funny how the face that actually changed is the one under rubble.

If your grand strategy requires turning a strip of two million people into the proof-of-concept, congratulations: you didn’t outsmart an octopus. You just admitted the tentacles were never the point. The bodies were.
