Step two: travel to places with different writing systems, different architectural techniques, different religious institutions.

Step three: declare those places "uncivilized," because they do not match the definition you wrote in step one to describe yourself.

Step four: use the declaration of their uncivilized status as moral permission for whatever comes next.
