🇮🇱🇵🇸 Gaza has 61 million tons of rubble to clear, but a UN expert says some of it needs to be treated like a crime scene first.
Francesca Albanese says the wreckage could still contain human remains and evidence of possible “atrocity crimes.”
So her message is basically: don’t bulldoze first and ask questions later.
She wants evidence collected and bodies identified before the full cleanup gets going, with Palestinians leading the process.
And this isn’t a small cleanup.
The UN estimates the rubble alone could take around 7 years to clear.
Albanese also says Israeli companies are involved in clearing some of it, though she didn’t publicly identify the sources behind that claim.
Israel hasn’t responded to this latest statement and has strongly rejected Albanese’s accusations in the past.
Basically, the concern is that cleaning up Gaza too quickly could also clear away evidence of what happened there.
