Reports claim Iran may join the new Mecca Defense Pact linking Saudi Arabia, Turkey and nuclear-armed Pakistan.The same mutual defense agreement signed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan that treats an attack on one as an attack on all.
What the West dismissed as a “Sunni NATO” is rapidly becoming something far more dangerous: the first real pillar of a post-American security architecture in the Middle East, quietly backed by Russia and China.
Pakistan’s powerful army chief Asim Munir is in Tehran right now to negotiate Iran’s entry as the fourth member. At the same time, Trump personally called him last week begging Pakistan to drag Iran back to the negotiating table.
This is not a sectarian alliance.
This is the beginning of a regional order designed to push the United States out as the indispensable power.
While Washington threatens “the toughest sanctions in history” and the global fuel crisis deepens, Tehran is walking through the front door of a new defense pact that was never supposed to include it.
