in the neoliberal mind, there are only two categories for persian power: evil or puppet. there is no third category. the possibility that they are simply smarter, stronger, more patient, or better led than the d.c./tech-bro/harvard/yale establishment does not exist in the architecture. it is an ontological impossibility.

she invokes "history" but her history is a 40-year slide deck starting at the hostage crisis. she is talking about the last chapter of the book and calling it the whole story. nobody is discussing the actual timeline.
