BREAKING: Iran has rejected a U.S. offer to unfreeze funds in exchange for dropping its plan to charge ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Washington and Oman have been trying to break Tehran's insistence on imposing tolls, using access to part of Iran's roughly $100 billion in frozen overseas funds as leverage.
Tehran is not taking the bait.
Instead, the IRGC is doubling down on control of the Strait, demanding Iran-designated shipping routes and pushing a toll system that could generate up to $40 billion annually.
Iran's message is clear: No control over Hormuz, no compromise.
