 The Risk of Civil War 

Hezbollah expert Amal Saad tells Drop Site that civil strife is the only thing Lebanon’s authorities “can guarantee” Israel under the new Lebanon-Israel framework. 

She calls it “a form of self-colonization,” with the Lebanese state “handing over south Lebanon for Israel to colonize, handing over the people of the South for Israel to genocide and ethnically cleanse, and in exchange… offer civil strife.” 

Saad argues the objective is to “get Hezbollah mired in a civil war” that would “distract it from its resistance activity.” But, “even with the civil strife, they probably will still not succeed in disarming Hezbollah.”
