🚨Via : ⭕️“The Committee to Protect Journalists has begun removing martyred Palestinian reporters from the record it once kept to honour them. On 25 June, the group announced a full review of its list of journalists killed during the war on Gaza, saying it was acting on obituaries that named some of the dead as fighters. The move follows months of quieter deletions, and a list that once held 276 names now stands at 259, with Palestinian reporters making up the bulk of those cut. Almost every deletion has arrived alongside the same pressure from the right wing pro-Israel press, with outlets such as The Washington Free Beacon, HonestReporting and CAMERA branding a Palestinian reporter a militant, repeating an unverified claim from the entity’s army, and waiting for the group to give way. Among those erased are Shireen Abu Akleh, shot in the head in Jenin while wearing a vest marked press, and Amal Khalil, who was left to die beneath rubble in southern Lebanon after a strike on the building where she had sheltered while covering attacks on nearby villages. This is happening during the deadliest period for the press on record, with more than 250 journalists and media workers martyred since October 2023, the overwhelming majority of them Palestinian, killed by an army that continues to bar the world’s reporters from entering Gaza.”

Going to spend the next twenty minutes finding and retweeting my CPJ research threads. 1/ I wrote this thread on how CPJ pretended journalism experts couldn't figure out if Israel was targeting journalists by targeting the journalists in their homes. x.com/receipts_lol/s
