Jeremy Scahill told Breaking Points that Israeli anger over the reported U.S.-Iran agreement is not confined to Netanyahu’s far-right allies, but reflects a broader consensus inside Israel’s political class to continue the war in Lebanon.
Scahill said Iranian officials and analysts believe another war with Israel is likely, and that Lebanon remains the key test of whether the emerging US-Iran deal holds.
“The massive question looming over this,” Scahill said, is whether Iran will refuse nuclear negotiations unless Israel’s “scorched-earth bombing or siege of Lebanon stops.”
