Seriously… what exactly did they expect?
You can’t launch a military operation against a sovereign nation and then act shocked when they retaliate. That’s not how geopolitics works. If one side escalates, the other will react whether Washington likes it or not.
The statement sounds less like diplomacy and more like selective outrage: "We can hit you, but you’re not allowed to hit back." That logic might fly in a press briefing, but it doesn’t hold up in the real world.
While nobody should cheer for attacks on troops, pretending military actions don’t carry consequences is absurd.
So the real question is: are they delusional, or just hoping nobody notices the contradiction?
