Yes, the same Holocaust-denying former president who once called to "wipe Israel off the map."

Per the NYT, an Israeli strike on day one was designed to free him from house arrest by killing his IRGC guards.

He was injured but survived, then "became disillusioned with the regime change plan."

The Israeli plan envisioned air assaults plus killing the supreme leader plus a Kurdish invasion plus an "alternative government" headed by the former president.

Mossad chief David Barnea reportedly still believes it would have worked.

Trump publicly mused "someone from within" should take over Iran days into the war.
