President Trump routinely says we have won the war, and “obliterated“ all of Iran’s military capacity, still Hormuz remains, closed, and Tehran retains a death grip on the flow of 20% of the world’s flow of oil.
Because of our past malpractice in diplomacy, using talks as a cover to prep for military operations, the Iranians will not listen to any proposals to end the war right now that do not advantage them.
Because of our war of choice, Iran now has leverage, not only over the United States, but over the global economy, in a way that would never otherwise have been in their hands.
This is the bitter fruit of foolish and arrogant policies from our country. The grave problem now, however, is that we are at a moment to where rational and sober reflection would lead us to finding a hat-in-hand solution to get the war over at any cost as soon as possible.
But evidence is growing that we’re going to do the opposite, and expand our foolishness and expand the war on the ground.
If there is a fire burning already in the Middle East, this could turn it into a flaming configuration…
