BREAKING NEWS: THE OIL SHOCK from the U.S. attack on Iran is hitting US allies, not China. The widely printed claim that China will be especially hard hit by the US-Israel war on Iran is not correct, a top Harvard professor said today.
China will be least badly hit among four major East Asian communities, said Prof Graham T Allison, in a post on X one hour ago.
“America’s Asian allies are much more dependent than China on energy that arrives by ship through the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.
“So for those analysts who declared soon after the War began that China’s large imports of Gulf oil made it ‘especially susceptible’ to an energy shortfall, they should have stopped to ask: Compared to what other sources of energy? And compared to which other countries?”
Allison is a professor at the Kennedy School at Harvard University, and a specialist in East Asian affairs.
