If we launch a ground attack to seize Iranian terrain or islands, we will likely incur significant casualties, are highly *unlikely* to accomplish anything of operational or strategic value, and may not succeed at all, adding humiliation to the injury.
Even the successful seizure of an island or small piece of Iranian coastland would not even affect Iran's control of Hormuz. It would severely reduce their oil exports but would not stop them (they have alternative exit points).
Why, then, would the president take actions that are LIKELY to result in dead Americans and virtually no chance to produce meaningful results for our country?
The risks to our country of choosing YET AGAIN an escalation of a war we should never have started, are much greater than many realize. We may all pay for this error, if the President does order the move.
