BRITISH DIPLOMAT RIPS INTO JULIA HARTLEY-BREWER
“That is a lie.”
A heated exchange unfolded between TalkTV host Julia Hartley-Brewer and former British ambassador to Iran Richard Dalton, after Dalton challenged her claims about Iran’s nuclear program.
Dalton accused the presenter of “grossly distorting the evidence,” telling her she was “out of [her] depth.” He pointed out that the International Atomic Energy Agency, in one of its recent assessments, said it had not detected evidence of an active Iranian nuclear weapons program.
Hartley-Brewer has previously drawn criticism during coverage of the war in Gaza, where detractors say she frequently spoke to guests advocating for Palestinian rights in a confrontational and dismissive manner.
The debate also highlights a long-standing regional contradiction. Israel is widely believed to possess nuclear weapons but maintains a policy of ambiguity and has not opened its nuclear facilities to international inspections. Estimates of Israel’s nuclear arsenal remain undisclosed.
Meanwhile, Iran has repeatedly stated that its nuclear program is for civilian purposes and denies pursuing nuclear weapons, even as it faces continued accusations and pressure from Israel and its Western allies.
