Jeremy Scahill says Tehran has sent a clear message: Iran will not end the war on Trump’s terms.
Scahill told a Zeteo town hall that Iranian officials are demanding reparations for war damage and international guarantees that Iran’s sovereignty will be respected before any ceasefire.
He also discussed Iran’s strikes on hotels and other sites allegedly housing U.S. or Israeli personnel, saying Tehran argues those locations lose civilian protection once combatants operate from them.
The United States and Israel have set the rules of engagement, Scahill said, referring to the past two and a half years of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, where Israel argued it could bomb churches, mosques, clinics, and hospitals because fighters were using “human shields.”
