As the Israeli regime bombs, invades,and occupies Lebanon, destroys homes, schools, hospitals, and civilian infrastructure, deploys toxic chemicals, displaces a million people, threatens annexation, and murders hundreds of people, the Lebanese army - funded and controlled by the US and other allies of the Israeli regime- has not so much as thrown a stone to defend Lebanon and its people, and it will not do so. In this context, calling for the disarming of the Lebanese resistance is the equivalent of calling for the end of Lebanese independence and sovereignty and the permanent subjugation of the Lebanese people. At a moment when the Israeli regime is attacking Lebanon and countries across the region, raping, pillaging, perpetrating genocide, and occupying three countries, you cannot oppose the only force offering defense and deterrence in Lebanon and still claim concern for Lebanon. As a matter of international law, Lebanon has a right to defend itself from external aggression and the Lebanese people have a right to resist foreign occupation, colonial domination, and racist regimes like that of Israel. To oppose this is to abandon the Lebanese people, to ignore international law, and to align yourself with bloody Israel regime aggression and murder.
