🟢 Hamas’ Khaled Meshaal at the Al Jazeera Forum in Doha yesterday: “The world has awakened now. It used to think Israel represented civilization, that it was a democratic entity similar to Western civilization, but it has become clear it is not. It is an entity in which all obscenity, brazenness, and the most savage crimes throughout human history have manifested. Therefore the world has become angry at Israel. There are transformations internationally, unprecedented sympathy for the [Palestinian] cause. There is change. I saw some American and European journalists, they said there is a real change in the youth generation in America and Europe. Transformations at the level of elites, the street, youth, universities, social media. The world has come to realize Israel has become a moral burden, a political burden, an economic burden. It drains America and European financial savings… This is an important message. So what do we do? We Arabs, Muslims, and friends? Do we remain in a purely defensive posture? No. The best defense is offense. Today Israel should be pursued. We want to establish that it is a pariah entity that is a burden to international security, stability, and interests, and we pursue it and turn it into an entity that loses its international legitimacy, exactly like the apartheid system in South Africa. We create this condition and deepen the world’s engagement with the Palestinian cause. Again: we, as Arabs and Muslims, must position ourselves in the global arena as a new international order forms with multipolarity and attempts to change global political structures. This is the message: we are before four questions we must answer, not remain cornered as if we are the accused. We are owners of a just cause. The accused is the one who committed the crime of genocide.”
