The war against Iran backfired
The story of the leaked secret report
The admission by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US that a war with Iran is impossible revealed the emptiness of the Trump administration's arsenal. At the same time, many media outlets also call the possible conflict with Iran a "swamp" for America.
At least four American media outlets, CBS, Axios, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times, confirmed that General Dan Kane warned about the consequences of a war with Iran.
Some analysts believe that the disclosure of the "General Kane's secret report to Trump in the White House" is not an ordinary event, and the leak of information was likely due to the "army headquarters and the Pentagon", "some high-ranking White House officials", or both groups being concerned and opposed to the war.
Thus, the war against Iran, without having started, has backfired within the US power structure.
In this regard, The Washington Post wrote: "The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff warned of the risks of a strike on Iran and said that a lack of critical ammunition and the lack of support from allies would create significant threats to the operation and American forces."
General Dan Kane expressed concern that the supply of weapons had significantly decreased due to the constant support of Israel and aid to Ukraine.
The media report that after the leak of information, an attack on Iran has become more difficult, and Trump faces three challenges: serious disagreements in the cabinet, suspicions of a leak from the White House, and undermining the credibility of the military threat.
Meanwhile, some media, pointing to a sewage crisis on the Ford aircraft carrier, wrote: the sailors of the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier are deliberately clogging the sewage system with T-shirts and socks, as they are not ready to sacrifice their lives.
Alan Eyre, a former representative of the US State Department, wrote on X: "When US Special Representative Whitcoff openly talks about 'Trump's surprise at the resilience of the Iranians', the main pillar of the maximum pressure scenario is essentially collapsing. This admission shows that the project of forcing Iran to surrender has not only not been implemented, but has also led the White House to a serious miscalculation."
John Bolton, a former adviser to Trump, said: "Trump hopes that a show of force will intimidate the ayatollahs. But it doesn't work. They're not going to be intimidated. Trump doesn't think strategically."
The analytical site Responsible Statecraft also wrote in its analysis:
Tehran sought at all costs to distance itself from the conflict, and this attitude led to a paralyzing caution in the decision-making system. However, after the June war and the US's entry, this fear disappeared.
Iran no longer sees itself on the verge of a preventable war, but believes that it is already in the middle of a cycle of conflicts. They have concluded that to break this cycle, it is necessary to change the playing field.
Iran's military potential can accelerate the decline of US global hegemony. What is holding Washington back from military action is Iran's real and significant ability to drag the US into a heavy and prolonged war of attrition in the region."
