Look at our institutions: the courts, police forces, Parliament, academia, government departments, the mainstream press. They haven't disappeared. They've been hollowed out and repurposed. Collective sovereignty, the idea that communities should determine their own futures, has been systematically replaced with corporate sovereignty. When councils approve developments residents overwhelmingly oppose, when regulators cycle through from the industries they're meant to oversee, when the press that should investigate power instead protects it, these aren't isolated failures.
