it was the same during the Ukraine war when I reported on millions of posts from a well-practised covert propaganda campaign operating from banks of automated fake ‘bot’ accounts.
I found multiple millions of anti-Russia X posts sent by bot farms of thousands of fake accounts.
it was an information operation set up mainly to influence the fears and mood of people in the firing line.
Analysis showed that the postings were even designed to persuade people to flee or stay, adding to refugee flows or the masses available for demonstrations.
