You made me laugh with that line about the Emmy Awards, because it is exactly how the machine works.
But to answer your question: I do not love America.
I study it like you study a predator.
You do not survive a beast like that by screaming "devil" and walking away.
You survive by understanding its habits, its weaknesses, its food source, and the moment it starts losing teeth.
What looks like "love" is just me refusing to be lazy about it.
Empire wants us emotional and vague.
"America is just evil, end of story."
Because if that is all it is, then there is nothing to do except wait for miracles or fantasize about its collapse.
I am interested in something colder:
Who prints the money.
Who writes the sanctions.
Who controls the narratives.
Where the consent is breaking.
Where the logistics are overstretched.
Where the fear is weakening.
I do not write for America’s comfort.
I write for everyone who has to live under its shadow, including the next kid who will grow up where I did and have to decode why their life was priced so cheaply.
You are right: it is a machine that has been operating since the colonies.
A machine that turns people into stories and stories into weapons.
I am just not content with calling it a demon and walking away.
I want to understand it well enough that one day, when it comes for us again, we do not just die beautifully.
We make it regret the attempt.
