There were a lot of news stories out today painting the latest round of US-Iran negotiations in Geneva as having broken down, as the US having presented an ultimatum that the Iranians rejected... and then the Iranians came out smiling and saying the sides had made significant progress, and the Americans didn't say much, and apparently everyone is meeting again in Vienna next week.
What are we to make of this deluge of news beating the war drums and painting the United States as having made maximalist demands, then? Because that, uh... doesn't seem to have actually happened. In fact judging by what the Iranians are saying we're on the road back to the JCPOA. And while it's certainly possible the US is simply stringing the Iranian delegation along to better stage an attack, it's equally clear that the credentialed media is simply not accurately reporting what the American negotiators are actually conveying to the Iranians. Ergo, we're being lied to by the media, as usual.
Why is this happening? Well, it's quite clear.
